1Phone: 08631/1843-161 Season: mid-September until mid-May The first public baths in Mühldorf were opened n December 16, 1898 in the Haberkasten building. The municipal rooms for tub and shower baths for gentlemen were on the ground floor, those for ladies were on the first floor. Each floor housed three tub baths of first and second class and three shower baths. The fee for a shower bath was 15 pence, a first class tub bath cost 70 pence, and a second-class tub bath was available at 45 pence. In the course of the years the municipal tub and shower baths turned more and more unprofitable. For this reason and in the face of imminent repairs the town council decided to close the municipal bath on January 9, 1952. In 1967 the first plans for a new indoor swimming pool in Luitpoldallee were drawn. However, due to lack of funds, the construction could only be started in 1970. On June 6, 1972 this “prestigious winter bath” was officially inaugurated. The hall, which was constructed of ready-mixed concrete parts, housed a swimming pool of 25 x 10 metres in its central part and a paddling pool of 6 x 4 metres for children in the southern building complex. In the anteroom there used to be a small drinks bar. In 1991 the town’s department
of works took charge of all leisure time facilities of Mühldorf. At that time, the indoor
swimming pool had been in operation for almost 25 years. Extensive mending and repair works had to be
planned. In order to make the indoor swimming pool more attractive to its visitors extensive rebuilding
was decided. After only nine months of modernisation works the indoor swimming pool and the newly
constructed sauna were opened on February 19, 1994 with overwhelming success. The attractive lay out
of the swimming pool, the paddling pool surrounded by a scenery of rocks and equipped with a slide and
a waterfall, the modern solarium installation and the new bikini bar add to a cosy atmosphere,
where spa visitors feel well. The sauna, decorated with marble in the Graeco-Roman style, acts as
crowd puller even across the county borders. Various offers, such as swimming courses, free of charge
water gymnastics or massages round the range of attractions down and result in an increasing number
of visitors. |
